Bob Engel started in the insurance and real estate business in 1968. Bev Engel started selling real estate in 1970. Together they founded The Engel Agency, Inc in 1977 and opened their present office at 210 W Platt Street in Maquoketa, Iowa.

The Engel Agency, Inc has continually grown through the years, adding Bruce Engel in 1992.
